WOW! What a hotel! Beautiful view and great rooms!

Aug 14th, 2019

Loved our stay at Oceanside. Really want to go back sometime soon. Walk to beach, pier and Ruby's on the pier were easy. Room was perfection. The bench seating on one side of the kitchen table was great for the kids and the area great for night-time talking and game playing. Rental movies were fun. Bellhops VERY helpful and front desk very nice and helpful with everything. HIGHLY recommended! Free parking a win/win, too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sleepless night along the track

Jul 15th, 2019

It was a pretty good clue when we walked into the room and found ear plugs provided by the hotel that something wasn't right. Indeed, within a few moments of checking in, we discovered why. The hotel is about 50 yards from the busiest north/south train route between San Diego and LA. All night long, about every 20-30 minutes, the trains didn't just come rumbling by ... they blew their horns right outside the hotel. The earplugs did little to cut the sound and it was the worst night sleep we have had in a long long time. We asked to be moved to a quieter room but they told us they had nothing else and that every room was noisy. So, instead of staying the three nights we had booked, we left and returned home after just one night. This is not a relaxing resort at all, and while the people who work here were friendly, you could tell they were tired of hearing the complaints about building a hotel alongside train tracks. Never again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent property - right next to the ocean

Jul 12th, 2019

We did a 3-night stay here and loved the property. It is nice, clean and well maintained. The lobby is very nice and open and feels as if you are stepping right on the beach even though it is one block inside. The staff and the service is excellent. We asked for a few things and our requests were executed so fast, it was amazing. The property had a nice kitchen with everything - people come here and do their own cooking but we only used the kitchen for our breakfast and it was great to enjoy the breakfast in the balcony with a nice view of the ocean. Bedding must have been of good quality since I had such nice sleep. The AC system all worked nicely and the rooms had very nice fans that moved the air nicely. In my opinion, the property is located on the nicer side of the beach. On the other side of the pier past Wyndham, there is stone levee and looks like the water pulled in a bunch of those stones on to the beach. We didn't go in the water on that side but I suspect that those stones will be in the water too. As is usual for the LA-SanDiego belt, the beach has nice strong decent waves and we enjoy that. The water is a bit cold but in July/Aug/Sep, once you get past the initial cold, you can stay in the water for a while. We were there on the July 4th weekend and there were a lot of people on the beach. It was fun to see all these little kids squealing with delight in the ocean waves. For us, it was a perfect 3 days to get out, enjoy the beach and weather and the property was overall Few reasons for giving the place 4* and not 5*. First of all, the parking spaces in the underground garage are too tight and can be difficult to find. Our bathroom decor was crap - I think they gave us a handicapped bathroom even though we didn't ask for it. Finally, my stay was with Wyndham points and the points should fully cover the stay. They asked for $4.50 to cover some new taxes but I have never seen good hotel chains do that - seems like there is some disconnect between Wyndham organization and this property with regards to payments. But apart from the minor issues, loved the location, the property and the service. Note: They offered Wyndham points and breakfast for a timeshare presentation and we didn't do that. But they were not really pushy on that - I liked that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Do not stay here

Jul 9th, 2019

This is a timeshare not a hotel, they will not provide you with a receipt when you check out. We stayed here because our insurance was paying for it and this hotel says they cannot provide receipts for the stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Do NOT book with Wyndham for a Timeshare sell

Jul 1st, 2019

I cannot comment on the property itself because I never got there. I had initially agreed to go to the hotel on a 3 night package that required that I attend a timeshare pitch. The person I spoke with initially said we would have to stay at a nearby Holiday Inn, which I said wouldn't work. Before I could get off the phone, he then said he could get me into the property, but I'd have to pay more than I was initially quoted. I agreed. The following day I called to check on something and found out that we were never put into the Oceanside Pier Resort, but instead we were in the Holiday Inn (but charged the extra amount). When I said that was unacceptable, I was transferred to various people, none of whom could help. Finally I just said to cancel the reservation. I was then transferred to an automated line asking if I was was over 50 or if I was happy with my cell phone service. I hung up and called back and got someone on the phone, and said I just wanted to cancel and didn't want to go through everything again. He told me I would have to put the cancellation requestin writing and mail it (NOT email, actual mail) in. I said that was ridiculous, and that I wasn't doing that, and that I wanted it cancelled immediately. He said he would transfer me to someone who would help me, and I was immediately hung up on. I called back, asked the person I was speaking with to put me directly through to a supervisor. She put me on hold for 15 minutes, the person who answered said he was not a supervisor and didn't know why I was connected to him. I explained the problem, he said he'd put me through to a supervisor, and I was again disconnected. As I type this, I am on hold again. I have spend almost three hours of my life between the initial booking and this saga and can only hope that at the end of it I will have nothing to show for it. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM, THEY APPARENTLY FEEL THEY CAN BOOK YOU INTO ONE HOTEL AND THEN MOVE YOU INTO ANOTHER AND THAT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET OUT OF IT. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
