Great food!

Jan 24th, 2020

Young island is a small island off St vincent. To get there, you have to take a small passenger boat from the main islands. This boat works 24/7 and the ride is literally 2 minutes. If the boat is not at the dock, you can always use the phone (located at the dock) to call them across. You can also just Sonali by waving your hands from the island, the captain will be sure to see you! There is no charge for this ride to Young island. On the island itself, there is a restaurant and hotel. The hotel is all inclusive and guests really enjoy just relaxing and having the island to themselves. The bread is amazing and they bring out 5 different types for you to try when you get there for the dinner buffet. It is an amazing experience!! Plus the boat is always there to take you back to the mainland when you're finished. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Almost Perfect

Jan 16th, 2020

We have just returned from Young Island, where we spent a wonderful week. The hospitality ( welcome drink on arrival ) was wonderful. Our cottage was in the hillside and we really didn’t have any neighbours to speak of! The views were amazing across the sea to the mainland. The nature walk was equally breath taking, either during the day or sunset. A bar set up at the top would be an added pleasure; which has happened in the past. The food was exceptional, a la crate every night, except for one buffet night, which was still lovely! The drinks menu is good and a variance of cocktails. All staff were very helpful and friendly. We only have 3 negatives about this island:- 1. The mini bar did not contain any drinks, not even bottles of water, but the ice bucket was filled every door. There is no shop on the island and would mean going to a store to stock up. We did mention this to the reception staff who said that drinks could be bought to our room, but we thought that would be very lazy, though there are some tricky steps to manoeuvr, if you have had a few rum cocktails! 2. Be warned, if the cruise liners are in dock in Saint Vincent, there maybe an influx of passengers and spoiling your very quiet day! We were extremely lucky as there were hardly any residents, during our week, no fighting to towel draping over the 14 sun beds, but this was a very different story, when we had a ‘ mini invasion’ last Friday! A difficult situation, it is a private island, but as often the case a public beach... 3. The noise from the night club across the sea ( bearing in mind it is only a 2 minute ferry ride) was booming until 2am or beyond on Sat/ Sun night and on our last night, I had to put cotton wool in my ears, Again, not sure what can be done about it, When all is said and done, we would definitely return again, a few tweaks here within the complex ( a coffee making machine would be a nice addition in the room and the swim up bar in the sea to be manned more often ) it will deserve 5 stars! Total relaxation

Jan 6th, 2020

Booked through Virgin. 30 minute drive to the boat. Two-minute boat ride, greeted by Island Manager Bianca. Quick check in. Were located in one of three cottages on top of the hill. Climbed 90 steps-it was like being alone in the rain forest! Rooms are huge, large bed, lots of cupboards, his/hers basins, separate toilet, and shower. Living area contains settee, coffee making facilities, sink and fridge (ice bucket filled daily). Large patio area with a large swimming pool (with bubbles), loungers, chairs, table and hammock! Loved our time out here. Meals served outside under thatched roofs, are A la Carte and very tasty. BBQ every Saturday evening (meat cooked to order). Enjoyed the famous freshly cooked bread. Good variety of drinks, named spirits and the local beer (Hairoun). The employees were very friendly, and hard working. but a special mention to the waiting staff, as they made our stay so special. There is a spa on site-but we never used it. There’s not a lot to do on the island. You could stroll round the island, watch the wonderful sunsets (we could watch the sunrise from our bed), snorkel, swim in the sea, swing on the hammocks or loungers on the beach, visit the sea bar swim in the Resort swimming pool or watch the wildlife - we had 3 ft Iguanas sun bathing on our patio! The only negative thing I have to mention, is the noise from across the water – which did get too noisy. I would definitely recommend this if you want to relax and unwind…..and do nothing! Wonderful stay!

Jan 2nd, 2020

Amazing laid back property was a first class experience. Bianca and her team always make you feel valued and do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. Food was excellent and it was so refreshing to have a relaxed AI experience with no lineups, problems finding chairs etc. The accommodations are great as well. Be sure to hike up to the top for some amazing views and take boat ride over and climb up the fort to see even more amazing scenery! Shout out to Jason our favourite bartender and Meesha and Patricia who took great care of us at meals. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unique, Laid Back Place to Unwind

Dec 17th, 2019

Friends had assured us that Young Island was "not as it used to be." Indeed, it has been around for ages and some units show this more than others. But the resort has the best of the old time Caribbean vibe: exquisite cleanliness and - for the most part - high service standards and staff who will literally do anything for you. Fresh flowers every day, along with ice delivered to your unit and maid service twice a day are examples of an old fashioned pride in hospitality. Vincentians are awesome and friendly. The housekeeping supervisor and staff here are easily the best we have experienced in the Caribbean over the past 30 years! The unique thing about the resort is its setting: botanical, bird and animal life are endlessly fascinating. Some units are up steep paths - and stone steps with no handrails - so not good for people with mobility challenges; best to request a suite on the beach or close to the pool in advance if this might be an issue for you; the staff will do everything they can to accommodate your needs. If you do end up in a hillside suite, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and the feeling that you are in a tree house! Breakfast is included and is absolutely first rate, as is the table service. They bake their own bread and there is abundant choice - we fell in love with the cinnamon bread. Other meals range from first class to very good; if you enjoy fresh fish prepared in imaginative ways, you will love the meals here. A quick ferry ride takes you to St. Vincent, and taxis can be arranged to tour and/or shop. Other islands in the Grenadines are a ferry ride away. I would suggest that management consider stocking the refrigerators with soft and/or alcoholic drinks (there is no shop on Young Island, though you can take a quick taxi ride to a grocery store if you like.) There is no real room service as such. Generally, it is very quiet; however, noise travels across the water and boats are docked opposite the island, so it is a good idea to bring ear plugs (our first two nights were characterized by VERY loud music and partying until 2 am or so, which we were assured was unusual.) The resort is recently under new management and one has the feeling that they are still trying to decide whether it is a luxury property or a bohemian retreat. Once they figure it out, I expect it will thrive because there is just nothing like it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
