Beautiful island escape

Jun 28th, 2019

We didn't stay here but visited and had a showround of rooms with Bianca Porter( GM). We also stayed for lunch which was absolutely delicious served by very friendly staff. Amazingly they bake their own bread there and we had a choice of 6 varieties to go with our starter! The little cottages where you stay, all have amazing views with bathrooms semi outside ( noone can see in!). They are updating all the time as for instance- not all accommodations have a/c yet. Worth making sure if you require this amenity. The tennis court is just being redone as well this summer. There are a few properties with plunge pools and the largest 2 bed room cottage at the top of the island, overlooking Fort Devernette, has a small infinity pool - absolutely beautiful. If you would like more info - feel free to email me on kicki@worldluxurytravel.co.uk I can send photos too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good quality food spoiled by staff attitude

Jun 4th, 2019

A large group of us attended the resort for the buffet lunch and drinks. The quality of the food was reasonable, offering a selection of curried beef, chicken, or wahoo on the day. The beef was a real standout as it was very tender. The quality of the food, however does not compensate for the experience you will suffer from the reluctantly helpful staff. As is the expected problem with private resorts, you remain on the premises at the owners discretion. Consequently you will be very aware when you are overstaying your welcome, even on a quiet business day.. The most bizarre part of the experience is that it is much more satisfying to stay on the mainland, overlooking the resort, than it is to attend the resort to stare at the mainland TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Experience

May 7th, 2019

This was an exciting experience, being transported across from the mainland St. Vincent to the nearby Young Island. The sea there is calm, and the sand smooth and white. I did not actually stay at the hotel, but patronized their restaurant. Absolutely enjoyed the drinks offered there. Then it was time for the journey back across. A big "Thank You" to the boatman for his expert handling of the crossing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing place 5 shiny stars

Apr 23rd, 2019

Wow where do I begin. Our stay was phenomenal the service the cleanliness of our room the entire 7 days me and my Fiancé stayed. We arrived to St. Vincent Argyle airport Sunday April.14th and our accommodations were for 7 nights on Young Island. We were greeted by a gentleman and taxi driver waiting to shuttle us from the airport directly to the Island and this was arranged by Young Island Resort. I forgot the taxi drivers name and his partner accompanying him but they were so kind they even took us in town for some items at the store days later and waited for us and we felt very safe in their company. You can see Young Island from across the way as you are driving approaching the dock area, looking out of the taxi window we felt we hit the jackpot with this place and extremely happy satisfied to be staying there, even across the water the place looked stunning. Nixon, a Young Island employee greeted us and carried our luggage onto the Young Island water taxi and took us across. Nixon is such gentleman and very pleasant to speak with. This little water taxi is safe and so enjoyable to ride across on, so pleasant and fun. Pulling up to the Island dock you see the beautifully kept beach and views of the cottages, bar lounge and main dining area. We were greeted with a very warm welcome by the hotels front desk receptionist and our famous St. Vincent Rum Punch was brought to our cottage moments after we stepped into our little cottage which we got the privilege of calling home for the week. Our cottage was # 3 which is directly on the beach and we felt this might have been the best cottage on the Island. If you want to be right on the beach open your door, have use of a personal hammock to relax in, see crystal clear blue water, white sand literally centimeters from your patio area this is your spot. Exactly every detail and accommodations were what we wanted we couldn’t have asked for more. This is not to discredit the other cottages I’m sure they are stunning and have all you need just we found what we were searching for and very happy with this cabin. The interior of the cottage is so cute. Mainly all the windows are shutters that open to allow a breeze to blow through and screened to keep the bugs out and we never had an issue with it being too hot or too cold. The windows are absolutely beautiful loved these very clever design to open and close them. This a beach cottage and the décor and furniture reflect this. It is true it could use some updating but personally I would not want it to be changed. The overall décor and layout of these cottages are perfect. The cleaners are phenomenal keeping everything so clean daily and not missing a spot of sand or anything we trekked in from the outside beach. Nothing out of place, crisp clean sheets / towels daily, floors spotless, a little mini fridge, desk area and lots of closet space to hang up your items in the closet. There are no bed blankets as they are not needed and we slept comfortably at night when the windows were closed and the fan was going so don’t be thrown off by this. This resort offers an outside shower which is separate from the toilet and sink which are inside. I have to admit this was shocking as in Canada our weather doesn’t allow us to enjoy an outdoor shower and I’ve never used one before this trip but wow I was so hooked on this and fell in love. It was so nice to shower outside and hear the sea waves, feel the breeze absolutely amazing ! I will miss this it was so stress relieving but everything on the island is stress relieving just walking around the grounds which are stunning , sunset point and the back end up by the tennis court, pool area all nice views. We dinned twice on the island first night we arrived we had dinner and tried the local king fish is brought in daily from the fisherman. Amazing chefs and wonderful food wonderfully prepared. Also the breakfast was phenomenal as well the omelet , fruits, fruit juices all amazing . And try the bread it is 5 stars and you can’t leave without trying it. The bar area is great at night and the servers are friendly and nice. Our last night we were there they had a wonderful calypso band that came in and played and sounded great it really added that extra cherry on top to conclude our trip as did the buffet the chefs prepared. Some staff we had the privilege of meeting Charles Brown, Lennox who operate the Young Island water taxi and Carlos all wonderful people we truly enjoyed seeing and speaking with daily there were others we met but I sadly forget their names. This island is wonderful. A truly beautiful place and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay while in St. Vincent. Totally exceeded our expectations. We will be back again and we were sad to leave this place. I will also add these things to conclude by review - someone mentioned mosquitoes and I can say I was not bitten one time by any nor was my fiancé we did not wear scented perfumes / creams during this time so this could have helped but also we were on the beach and there was a breeze so it kept them away. They do provide bug spray in the rooms if you need it. Noise at night – there are some bars / restaurants just across where the water taxi lets you off. Mangoz, French Veranda, Bungalow are all good for food. Mangoz plays great music at night and its fun to go and meet some of the locals and enjoy the music and you get a great view of the Island from the other side. It did get loud at night 2 of our 7 nights but it was just before the Easter weekend started. Noise travels across the water and we closed up our shutters and it helped also it dies down at about 12 30 – 1 so no different than living in a city hearing the city noise was not a bother to us at all. Another little bar I forget the name is great to watch sports which is 2 doors down from Mangoz is good as well with cheap beer/drinks. Don’t be intimidated by the locals who hang out at the ferry dock area, its actually a taxi pickup spot and these people are friendly they are also looking for business but will not bother you unless you initiate the conversation. We actually ended up making a few friends with a few taxi drivers and one man took us around to some local spots in town, which in our opinion was the best way to see the island and get the stories of some of the places. Bargain with them for rates and trust your own judgement. Also we got a bit too much sun our first day so a nice local man brought us some freshly picked aloe vera which literally saved us we paid 10ec which was like 5 bucks Canadian really helpful. A big Thank you to the Young Island staff who were wonderful and treated us with A1 service and made this trip so memorable and perfect. I give this resort 5 shiny stars would highly recommend. Unexpected stay

Mar 31st, 2019

After a flight cancellation we booked into this resort for a night and wish we could’ve stayed another one to see more of it. We were welcomed with punch at the dock upon our arrival. We stayed for supper there and it was really good. Hope to go there again sometime TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
