Faultless stay

Apr 8th, 2019

Me and my girlfriend wanted to treat ourselves to a five star experience and Zhero in no way disappointed. Our expectations were exceeded through out our stay. Professional service from staff with very interesting backgrounds, a faultless clean spa to relax in after our hard day snowboarding and a five course meal that was simply incredible. The selection of wines was hard to choose from but we were recommended a bottle by Felix that went perfectly with our meal. It was safe to say we were very merry after our wine and after dinner cocktails at the bar , which were also unbelievably good. My only complaint would be that we were unable to stay longer. We will definitely be returning!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Design Hotel

Apr 8th, 2019

I recently completed a 5-night stay at Hotel Zhero (Design) towards the end of ski season. I generally had a good stay and I would return. Even though Zhero is not ski-in / ski-out, the hotel has a free shuttle bus to bring guests to Ischgl and for the return you can just call for pick-up. The hotel conveniently rents ski equipment so you can get in the shuttle bus all ready to go, and the hotel also sells tickets to avoid guests waiting to buy tickets near the slopes. Location of Hotel Zhero is not perfect because you are not right in the village, but keep in mind that hotels in the middle of the action in Ischgl cost significantly more: you get 5-star Zhero for cheaper than many 4-star hotels in Ischgl. I booked the superior room type and got a 3-category upgrade to a “junior suite classic” as a Marriott Ambassador guest so I was positively surprised. This hotel lives up to the Design brand reputation with several unique aesthetic features. Whether it pleases is more a matter of personal preference and for me the style was not my favorite, mostly because the color theme was too dark. The walls are black, counter tops are black, furniture is black, etc. The same color scheme was used in common areas for example at reception, in corridors, in the main restaurant, etc. The room was quite spacious and more akin to a real suite rather than a junior suite (despite the name) and the quality of materials is very good. There is a clear separation between the bedroom and the living room although there was no door in between. The living room has a sofa bed so the room can accommodate 4 people. There was a half bathroom near the entrance which is convenient, in addition to the main bathroom which has a rain shower in a large bathtub with porous stone walls. Throughout the entire room there is ample storage space with several closets. In front of the bedroom and living room there is a balcony although there is no seating over there and it’s just a long walkway going the entire length of the hotel so strangely you can have other guests on your floor walk in front of your room and look through your window. It did not happen but just because of the possibility, it makes you think twice about privacy. During the night we felt a bit hot so we opened the door/window but we wondered whether someone drunk could just walk into our room during the night from the balcony. Depending on which side of the hotel is the room, different guests can get a view, but from our room since we were right in front of the road and since the road is at the bottom of the valley, when looking out from the room we were too close to the mountain so you just see trees rather than see a mountain in the distance. There is a small river (or stream) next to the road so it was nice to hear the sound of water flowing, for lack of view. Rooms on the sides of the hotel can see mountains in the distance. Breakfast was included in our rate, in fact I believe all guests have free breakfast at this hotel. In any event, we found breakfast to be excellent. Timing is very convenient as it lasts until 11:30am. The quality of the food was good and choice was adequate: several fruits, several veggies, traditional sausages, an omelet station, and several specialty breads. The smoked salmon was thick and particularly delicious. There is also an a la carte menu to go along the buffet but it was at an extra charge. I found the pool to be a great place to relax and very well designed including several lounge chairs and a fireplace. It is a strong point of the hotel. Overall I would say it’s a good hotel even though it’s not perfect. I was pleased with the Ambassador treatment and room upgrade, but you have to compromise on location because you are not right in Ischgl, and the room was not my favorite due to the darkness. That said, next time I book a mountain trip to Austria, I would probably return to Zhero. Marriott/Starwood loyalists who want to stay in this area will be treated well and can book at Hotel Zhero; it provides a different kind of experience than boring standard hotels. Cool hotel, stayed at the deluxe room that was very large and comfort. The shuttle to Ischgl is working well most time and is needed as there is nothing around the hotel in terms of stores and restaurants. The service at reception is very good. 2 BIg negative and important points are: 1. Do not rent any ski or snowboard at the hotel, choices are very limited and quality is not good at all. with lots of mistakes. Also do not use the ski room as it is in a very bad position and equipment can be takes and stolen easily. There are no lockers and no separate area for each room for the shoes. Never seen something like that in 4 or 5 stars ski hotel. 2. Smoking on the bar area is not normal in 2019 especially in 5 star ski hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Smoking at a Bar its a no go

Feb 6th, 2019

I would've given a 4 star rating but due to the fact that smoking was allowed at the Bar (which is right next to the restaurant) is really disgusting and definitely a no go in a luxury Hotel. We stayed Dec'17 over Christmas (kinda late review but getting more active on Tripadvisor again) and also had Christmas menu which was wonderful we had great wine recommendations from the sommelier it was a perfect pairing with our food the Beerenauslese (Dessert wine) was delish one of the best I ever had the sommelier at that night definitely knows his job .The staff were wonderful especially the Lady that checked us in I don't remember her name but she kinda had red hair she was very welcoming so thumbs up for that. Also the illy coffee which I had at the bar in the morning was very good but again you can't really enjoy your coffee when you have ppl smoking yuck felt like being in a Pub and definitely not up to 5 star standard. The Spa/Pool area was nice but I was dissapointed that kids were playing in the pool so I couldn't really relax after the sauna with all that screaming and jumping in the pool . It was actually stated by the hotel that kids are not allowed to get in I'm not a kids hater but this is not a place for them to play when Adults want to relax . You should have an area for the kids or should have a time limit that after a certain time that kids are not allowed to be in the Spa. Last but not least Kappl is a great area for skiing especially for beginners like myself it is also great for Families where Ischgl is more like a party area. If those 2 issues that I mentioned ( smoking+ kids free spa ) changes in the future . I would stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best Hotel in Ischgl!

Jan 21st, 2019

This year, I decided to go with my family (age 21 -62) to Ischgl, skiing and apres-ski. Hotel Zhero is sleek and cozy with a mesmerizing SPA - just perfect after a long ski-day. Every night we had a new culinary experience that blasted our taste-buds. Insider tip: Try the hot chocolate and the Schnitzel in lounge ;) The service was exceptionally good, very friendly, caring, and attentive. Despite that the hotel is not situated in the city center, it provided us with a constant free shuttle service (only 10-minutes), which was very convenient. The only area of improvement is to provide guests with a bigger ski-storage. Overall, we had an amazing experience and we are already planning our second trip to Hotel Zhero, next month. I fully recommend this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
