Unprofessional service

Feb 13th, 2021

I visited this Curio as a late stay, last person in the hotel. I had an inquiry about my diamond membership and spoke with Jeffrey the manager the next day. He basically told me I didn’t know what I was talking up and hung up on me. The rooms are NOT nice and the area was full of homeless screaming through your window. Guest service didn’t seem to care where they put me even with all the availability. Could of got a much better value on hotel with that amount of cost. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Staff - Property needs a bit of help

Jan 25th, 2021

The lone front desk clerk and the lone valet were amazing. So helpful. That being said, the property has a pretty strong mildew smell and our bathroom was not that clean. WIth extreme levels of covid cleanliness I am used to in public areas, we were suprised to see a few pieces of what was likely beard hair in the sink and a dirty residue on the toilet around where the toilet seat attaches. The property was a bit humid too indoors (which probably explains the mildew odor). The PM lock on the entrance is broken so they barred the door with a board. Downtown Houston has a VERY large homeless population and there was a camp of at least 20 across the street from the hotel. They were very organized but do seem to target the front door. Every time we left the hotel, we would be approached for money or food. They were not threatening but it was constant. Just be aware, if you stay here bring a couple of boxes of granola bars, make sure you have low $ bills or something to have to handout as there are so many of them. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable and a good value for your money

Jan 4th, 2021

I stayed a couple of nights with my family in The Sam and had a very pleasant stay, beds are comfortable and the room has all needed amenities. The place is pretty centrally located but unfortunately this area of Downtown Houston has an enormous amount of homeless in all its corners (pretty uncomfortable to walk out at night). Nice Hotel But Homeless Sleep Right Across The Street.

Nov 23rd, 2020

We stayed in the 1 King Bed 1 Bedroom Suite, which was pretty interesting. It has a living area with a couch and desk with a TV. Also the room has two bathrooms, One in the living area and one in the bed room area. The rooms are not separated by walls or a door. It is pretty much open concept with very little separation between the rooms. They do not have parking but there is a Valet who will park your car for a per night charge. We didn't get to eat the food as the restaurant and room-service was unavailable because of Covid-19. But the front desk does have a convenience store to buy snacks and drinks. The room and bed were comfortable, but the only complaint I had was right across the street a lot of homeless people were hanging around and sleeping on the side walks. Other then that, it is a pretty nice hotel to stay at for a couple of nights. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointment

Nov 15th, 2020

We have stayed here many times and love to come back. We decided to stay for loyalty, points and the great breakfast that comes with Diamond status. When we arrived, we were informed that they no longer give Diamond Status privileges! Do yourself a favor and stay at the Lancaster! It is super! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
