Family holiday planned in Jan 2020 organised through travel agent with deposits paid . Finalised in October when found out borders opened , had to pay extra $313 as they had no 1 bedroom appartments available as requested when paid deposit so he had to get a 2 bedroom instead. Organised late check in as we didn’t fly into Airlie until 7.30pm . Received text message to say what room we had and that the door was open . Went up to our room to find door locked so I rang reception, the man on the phone was very blunt and bordering very rude and asked if I “turned the door handle both ways”? Like I was stupid ! The door was definitely locked ! He told me I would have to wait 15 mins . When the door was finally open I found there was no porta cot as I also requested and paid an extra $10 a night for . I called reception again and the man told me there was nothing they could do tonight and I have to see staff in the morning (in an extremely rude tone). This Was an inconvenience as I have a 1 year old !! . Staff told me in the morning that travel agent had it all wrong and it wasn’t on their paperwork . Even tho I pulled up my receipt from the travel agent saying paid extra $70 for porta cot . No one could explain to me where the extra $70 I paid went mind you I had to pay another $313 also on top of that as the original appartments we had were double booked . Appartments in need of a refurbish but was close to Main Street . Friday night we were having dinner by the pool . 12 adults all family and a baby . Manager came out at 8pm and told us to be quiet and we need to be out at 9pm in a ag . We were only talking . Next day schoolies came and party Saturday and Sunday night in appartments above us and nothing was said to them . Girls out the front in reception Sunday morning in school uniforms drinking a bottle of vodka still drunk from night before and all schoolies in the pool after 9pm after we were told 2 days earlier to be quiet at 8pm . Also given the wrong Wifi password. .wifi connection so bad couldn’t use it when go the right password so we turned it off .. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you like mould in your aircon, hair in your ensuite, mould on curtains and grease on your cupboards then this place is for you.. we originally booked for two nights as our stop before going home. The entire unit had an odour, the lack of basic cleaning was obvious once the lights went on, then we found a spare key hanging on the clothes line, the dryer lint filter was an inch thick, felt sick staying there couldn't wait to leave the next morning (we couldn't leave any earlier) reception said they would pass it on and we might see a refund in 7 days .. what a joke .. never again .. don't get fooled people the images don't reflect reality. I was more likely to get sick in this place then covid itself.. spent last night cleaning just so we could sleep. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
A bit disappointing

We were a bit disappointed that the resort didn’t live up to the description on the web site. On paper the location looked great - very short walk to Woolworths supermarket and the Main Street - however, we didn’t expect the road to be so noisy. Perhaps it was because the apartment we had was only on the first floor (number 16) and virtually overlooked the road. As other reviewers have mentioned, the furnishings were a bit old and tired and could do with updating. Some of the utensils in the kitchen could definitely be replaced, with plastic spatulas melted and very dirty looking. Water pressure in the shower was very poor. We didn’t use the pools at the resort as the Airlie Lagoon is only a short walk away and as we like to swim very early morning there were hardly any people there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Did not live up to the hype AT ALL!!

Picked this resort for a family long weekend from Cairns based on its location and the great reviews. However, we were sadly disappointed with the outdated furnishings. Normally trivial stuff like this does not stop us from having a fantastic time. However, the shower was like standing under a slight drizzle of rain - no pressure at all. We also noticed that the advertised complimentary breakfast was cancelled due to COVID-19 as was the satellite connection. So, although staff said we could connect tv to Netflix to get something on the tv for the kids via wi-fi....wi-fi only connected on our balcony. There was no minibar or coffee machine as advertised for the 2-bedroom unit we booked. And while they were able to use COVID-19 as an excuse for not providing all the advertised amenities, they put us in a room that shared the main bedroom wall with the elevator...so my husband and i had the added enjoyment of listening to every lift movement all night and the voices of those inside it. This is WITH the so called advertised sound-proofing of the rooms. We would have loved to have voiced our concerns with someone at reception during our stay, however, reception hours were 9-3pm. Therefore, taking day tours meant we never saw any staff. So, if a killer view is all that matters...by all means book a room at The Water’s Edge. It is a great view but there are better views one street forward that are likely to have better amenities, service, and rooms. COVID-19 problems are valid, however, this resort owes it to potential guests to contact them following a booking to let them know what facilities they don’t currently have available; giving them an option to either change accomodation or accept a discount. It was our first visit to Airlie Beach and we couldn't believe the ideal location of our spacious 2 bedroom apartment. We walked everywhere, our daughters loved to pools and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
