Bon Boulogne

Nov 8th, 2019

There are two Ibis Hotels With the same description here; do not confuse them. The one in Boulevard Daunou is dreadful, this one in Boulevard Diderot is very good. The staff are particularly helpful and the limited menu is well prepared. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Very Frustrating Stay

Oct 9th, 2019

We have stayed at this budget hotel many times, entering and leaving France. It has been adequate for our needs. However this year will be the last. On arrival I was made to pay an extra 15 euros as the receptionist said her computer showed I had not paid the full amount when booking. My receipt showed otherwise. She told me to contact Accor about it. Three months later I am still trying to get a refund from Accor (the principle is important not the amount). Their customer services and complaints department are totally inefficient. I have repeatedly phoned and emailed and they do nothing. As for the hotel ; we have coped with school parties being there (children roaming corridors) and one year almost the whole building was occupied by the police working in Calais but I can not bear the dreadful smell of sewage which now seems to be acceptable in the bathroom. I had to stick my head out of the window in order not to be sick. To be fair some staff are friendly and helpful, not the receptionist I had to deal with. This is the first time I have ever written such a review but it has been a frustrating experience and one not over yet! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

IBIS should remove their name from this - it's misleading!!!

Sep 23rd, 2019

3 rooms booked for 7 of us: room 1 - stank to high heaven and you could not open the window to allow fresh air into the room. I actually cried myself to sleep as this was the start to my kiddies first trip to France room 2 - wow, if I thought our room couldn't smell as bad as ours… my poor mother slept in what smelt like sewage. So much so she ended up in her car in the early hours just to escape room 3 - they were the lucky ones... my cousin and her son at least could open their window for ventilation but that said their bathroom also smelt of faeces and although they where the bravest to attempt to shower the water flowing was so cold it was a quick dip in and out I feel totally upset for my mother as she booked our 3 rooms on the back of IBIS being a reputable firm - however this budget block of student accommodation rooms certainly does not earn the relevant link to an IBIS... it's totally misleading. Yes the rooms have had a fresh lick of paint, but it's not clean and it stinks to high heaven!!!! You can smell the stink as soon as you walk into reception... If I could score this dump a minus score I would... Stay away if you have small kids Do not pay extra for the measly breakfast(of which tax gets added) Be aware that car parking is extra (that's to cater for the guarded gates as its not the nicest of areas) We also spayed deodorant and perfume in our rooms hoping the smells would evaporate by the time we came back after lunch, walks and the dinner... it helped only slightly TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

one night stop before going through the tunnel

Aug 12th, 2019

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, if it wasn't for the time of our arrival I would have gone somewhere else. Three rooms booked for the five of us, 1st room smelled of urine 2nd room flooded when using shower or sink and bathroom heater would not turn off. All three rooms were filthy. I have stopped in many Ibis hotels and can say this one is the worst. On the web site the pics that came up were of the other Ibis so I think this is misrepresentation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good.

Boulogne-sur-Mer is certainly significantly superior and preferable to other coastal towns such as Benghazi, Weston-Super-Mare, for example. Miserable weather in both Belgium and France, and was shattered, so I opted to stay here for the evening and get the Eurotunnel in the a.m of Sunday. Pleasant staff and tidy hotel. Check in was easy and quick, and the room was both clean, tidy and a decent size. I perused the bar which I decided I would lurk in for a quick drink, followed by a thorough perusal of bars in the town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
