Solid option in a city with somewhat limited luxury options

Jul 1st, 2019

I've been digging the autograph collection hotels, definitely better than "the luxury collection" or something hateful like a W, and this location is no exception to that rule. This hotel ticks a lot of the boxes - nice design, great common spaces, decent amenities, good (enough) location, great front desk staff, nice gym. The one thing that annoyed me is that the lobby bar (D6) turns into a veritable nightclub filled with, well, nightclub people on the weekends. I specifically avoid most W hotels for the reason, and it definitely detracts from the otherwise relaxing vibe. Also kinda makes it hard to have a chill lobby nightcap, which is key. That said, I will stay here again and do recommend the hotel, especially if you like to party. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fantastic hotel with great staff

Cool hip vibe. Great spaces. Friendly helpful staff. Wonderful experince. Much quieter and private than the Marriott next door with the casino. Wonderful experience from checkin to checkout. Walkable to great restaurants in Yaletown.I would definately stay her again next time I am in Vancouver. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Elegant & Eco-friendly

Located in Yaletown, this property is a little out of the city centre (about a 10 minute brisk walk). New complex. Gorgeous property. Wonderful staff who cannot do enough to assist. No fridges in rooms. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pretty awesome hotel

Jun 15th, 2019

We stayed for 5 nights on points and suite night upgrades so the price was right. As others have mentioned the Douglas is attached to the JW with a casino in between. The JW is a conference hotel which was probably the only annoying thing about the property. The concierge lounge is located on the far end of the JW on the CF floor so one has two options for getting there from the sleeping rooms - you can go down to the 1st floor (not lobby which is on the 6th floor), walk across street level floor then take a second set of (the JW) elevators to the CF floor. Or you can take the Douglas elevators to the CF floor and walk across the conference meeting areas which can be filled with people attending the conference depending on the time of day. The staff in the lounge were excellent, extremely pleasant and helpful. The food options were quite good although there was little variety (except for the appetizers from 5:30 - 7:30 pm). The property offers complimentary car service within a few miles of the hotel which we used twice. Other times we would have liked to use it but it was not available so we ended up taking cabs. Brandon, the downstairs valet, was amazing. By the end of the week we felt like we were old friends. He was extremely helpful with directions, suggestions for places to visit and eat and just to talk about Vancouver and Canada in general. He stayed after his shift ended one afternoon to help me plan our travels for the following day. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Even if it's overpriced, the DOUGLAS is a lovely hotel

If you can score a deal for this hotel using name your own price on Priceline, then it's worth it -- the rooms are wonderful and the service is even better. At normal retail, however, it isn't worth the prices that I saw advertised. Recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
