The West Baden Springs Hotel is much more than just a place to stay overnight: It's also a National Historic Landmark, built in 1902. The hotel's domed atrium spreads across 200 feet, leaving some to nickname it the Eighth Wonder of the World. Along with the 243 rooms that overlook the opulent atrium, there's also a spa and the upscale Sinclair's Restaurant, as well as a few casual eateries. Guests express awe over West Baden's appearance and other luxurious extras like access to golf courses and retail shops, plus the on-site spa, pool and fitness center and classes. You'll find the property in southern Indiana, less than 2 miles from the French Lick Resort and about 100 miles south of Indianapolis.West Baden Springs, INTripAdvisor (2138)4.5-star Hotel ClassFree ParkingFree WiFi

If you're hunting for a chic and modern place to stay in downtown Indianapolis, the Conrad Indianapolis is the way to go. Previous visitors said this property's location puts you near some of the city's best shops, sights and restaurants. Guests highlight the elegant on-site wine bar, Tastings, and the dishes served at The Capital Grille, but they don't enjoy the hefty cost of valet parking. This Conrad also contains the Evan Todd Spa & Salon and a well-equipped fitness center. Meanwhile, guest rooms include 42-inch flat-screen TVs, pillow menus and city views. And thanks to its Hilton ties, members of the Hilton Honors program can earn or redeem points here.Indianapolis, INTripAdvisor (1678)4.5-star Hotel ClassFree WiFi

This resort and casino hotel is situated in southern Indiana, cuddling into a corner of the Hoosier National Forest, and is about 100 miles south of Indianapolis. There are several golf courses, a 27,000-square-foot a spa, multiple pools, a bowling alley and a 51,000-square-foot casino on the grounds. If that's not enough to keep guests busy, the French Lick Springs Resort, which also includes sister property West Baden Springs Hotel, also puts on concerts and offers hiking and biking along the nearby Buffalo Trace Trail. Still, some say the nicest thing about the resort is its peaceful milieu. Recent guests were also happy with the updated rooms (equipped with flat-screen TVs and 720-thread-count sheets), the elegant lobby and the on-site shops and restaurants. Others were interested to learn about the history of the hotel; it was originally built in 1845, with the spa wing added in 1901.French Lick, INTripAdvisor (1431)4.0-star Hotel ClassFree ParkingFree WiFi
