Sitting at the base of Aspen Mountain on the southern edge of town, The Little Nell caters to snow junkies with on-site services such as a Ski Concierge team (who can secure everything from lift tickets to ski rentals) and an equipment storage center. However, guests say that the hotel's proximity to powder isn't the only reason to book. The Little Nell's two in-house restaurants  element47 and Ajax Tavern  earn high praise for their artfully prepared plates, and the hotel spa is ideal for post-skiing relaxation. Although you won't be spending much time indoors, you can look forward to resting up in a spacious and inviting guest room, surrounded by warm, soothing cream-colored hues, a gas fireplace, a well-stocked minibar and a flat-screen TV. And, like they do at The Little Nell's sister property, the Ojai Valley Inn in California, recent guests give the customer service two thumbs up, saying that the hotel's employees were some of the nicest they'd ever met.

    5-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 1279 reviewsTripAdvisor (1279)

    Free WiFi

Towering over central Vail, this chalet-style resort doesn't skimp on coziness. With sweeping vistas of either the Vail Village or Gore Creek, each guest room features Rocky Mountain touches like custom-made Bavarian furniture, gas fireplaces and heated floors. The traditional lodge design carries over into the resort's four dining areas, each boasting wood furnishings and a rustic ambiance. Sonnenalp caters primarily to skiers, and visitors found both the resort's location and the ski concierge service to be extremely convenient. Even if you don't plan on tackling the slopes, you shouldn't rule out this resort; Sonnenalp offers a variety of ways to stay active that don't involve snow. The championship Sonnenalp Golf Club, for example, features 7,100 yards of rolling fairways and pesky sand traps. Meanwhile, the outdoor pool and cozy Sonnenalp Spa both provide a fantastic setting for rest and relaxation. Yet despite all its offerings, guests point to the hotel staff as the main reason to book here. Recent visitors say they were made to feel special by the hotel employees and were even greeted by name upon re-entering the premises. What's more, Leaders Club members get perks like room upgrades and complimentary breakfasts at this hotel. One drawback: this resort is expensive, and daily resort and parking fees will cost you more than you may expect.

This massive Ritz-Carlton resort near the Beaver Creek Ski Resort looks as though it's bursting from the mountainside. Guests love the traditional ski chalet feel here, from the exposed wood beams and stone walls of the lobby to the cozy fireplaces found in many of the guest rooms. If you're an art lover, you've met your match in one of Denver's newest hotels. As its name suggests, this hotel devotes nearly every inch of its space to art (it even boasts its own curator). And you'll see it right when you walk in the door, where a 22,000-light art installation by Leo Villareal greets you in the lobby. When you're not admiring the lobby artwork, peruse the two on-site galleries or head over to the Denver Art Museum, located around the corner from the hotel. Of course, you can also marvel at more pieces in the comfort of your room. Each accommodation is decorated with hand-selected art and outfitted with amenities like Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, an Illy espresso machine and complimentary Wi-Fi access. While a standout, the fairways aren't the only thing recent guests highlighted; most agree that the great customer service is stellar. In addition to the links, previous visitors also give two thumbs up to the on-site spa, Mokara, as well as the two sprawling pools and the numerous hiking and biking paths located nearby. Meanwhile, the contemporary American cuisine plated at the in-house restaurant, Meritage, has visitors' mouths watering. The rooms are often described as spacious and comfortable and kids are kept easily entertained with complimentary backpacks full of activities. Members of Omni's Select Guest rewards program can use their point for upgrades to a larger room (and even better views).

Sitting several miles south of downtown Colorado Springs, the Cheyenne Mountain Resort offers beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains. Drawing inspiration from their natural surroundings, guest rooms are adorned in earth tones and come outfitted with various wood furnishings both traditional and contemporary, as well as luxury bath products and private balconies or patios. Make sure to request a room with mountain views, or else you may be stuck with views of the surrounding resort. Staff was regularly described as warm and friendly, and the resort's 18-hole golf course and on-site spa help contribute to this property's reputation as an R&R haven. And as far as dining goes, the three on-site eateries have a reputation of keeping your appetite satisfied.

Unlike its sister RockResort properties, The Arrabelle at Vail Square and The Osprey at Beaver Creek, The Lodge at Vail is all about exuding a traditional ski lodge style. Guest rooms feature elegant antique furniture and bright red design accents (as well as marble bathrooms and, in some rooms, kitchenettes), while the common spaces keep to the code with exposed stone walls and large fireplaces. Recent guests note that the customer service here is fantastic, with staff members going above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of. While this hotel definitely won't come out to be one of your cheaper hotel experiences, The Lodge's heated outdoor pool, multiple hot tubs, full-service spa and mouthwatering Cucina Rustica restaurant are worth the extra splurge.
