Situated about 5 miles southeast of Pointe-à-Pitre, Basse-Terre's central city, beside an 18th-century windmill, Auberge de la Vieille Tour provides guests with beautiful surroundings and a rare glimpse of Guadeloupe's traditional sugar plantations. The hotel's Creole-style rooms showcase wooden furnishings and orange, green or yellow linens. Each accommodation comes equipped with a cable TV, a minibar, a desk and free Wi-Fi access. Though most recent guests report a satisfactory stay, some previous visitors said the rooms could benefit from a restoration. But for everything the guest rooms lack, former travelers said the kind and welcoming staff compensates by going above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable. During the day, vacationers have access to an outdoor pool, a tennis court and a beach. For those craving a sample of Caribbean flavors, there are a restaurant and a snack shack on-site. Tropical cocktails, including many featuring one or more of 40-plus rums, can be enjoyed at the cozy Lounge Bar.GosierTripAdvisor (568)4.0-star Hotel ClassFree ParkingFree WiFi

Just a half mile from Sainte-Anne's sands, Hotel Eden Palm's greatest assets are its easy beach access and its utter seclusion. There are four types of accommodations available: Eden Luxe Suites, Suites, Junior Privilège and Bungalows. Eden Luxe suites are accented with warm yellow walls and tropical plants, and come with their own balcony and Jacuzzi; meanwhile, bungalows tout a private terrace and tropical-inspired decor. Previous guests call the rooms spacious and clean, but note the walk to the beach takes longer than advertised. Regardless of whether you decide to venture to the shore, be sure to try the French-Creole dish at the on-site restaurant. Should you desire some nightly entertainment, you can enjoy evening shows right at the hotel, though some guests were not impressed by what they describe as lackluster performances. Most guests reported a satisfying experience, but some complained of housekeeping problems.Sainte-AnneTripAdvisor (135)4.0-star Hotel ClassFree BreakfastFree Parking
