Best Times to Visit Palm Springs

The best time to visit Palm Springs is between January and April when the weather is the most hospitable. Fall's temperatures are almost as nice, but unless you love the heat, we wouldn't recommend visiting in the summertime when daily highs regularly reach the triple digits.

January-April

Winter is peak tourism season in the desert: The weather is perfect for all the pastimes Palm Springs enjoys best – spa pampering, pool lounging and hiking. Average highs in January range from the mid-40s to the high 60s. In April, you'll see lows in the upper 50s and highs in the mid-80s. But remember, attractions are crowded and hotel rates are at a premium during these months.

May-September

Summer is a long and very, very hot season in Palm Springs. Although the city all but empties of tourist crowds, you will have to contend with average daytime temperatures that regularly climb above 100 degrees. The heat can make it difficult to enjoy the city, even if you are lounging poolside. However, the heat wanes slightly in the evenings, so if you're a night owl who enjoys warm weather after dark, summertime in Palm Springs could be perfect for you.

Key Events:

October-December

Fall is a nice season in Palm Springs, but these months see a lot of business travelers and big conventions descend upon the city. Still, you'll find fewer visitors than you would in late winter and early spring, not to mention better prices on hotels (especially on the weekends). And temperatures aren't that bad either; highs range from the upper 60s to the high 80s this time of year.
