March - May

March is the start of spring in Pismo Beach, and residents celebrate the warm weather with many events. The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival attracts thousands of people to the area in March, while outdoor festivals like the Strawberry Celebration – which features concerts, food vendors and local farmers selling their berries – occurs in May. The temperature can hover anywhere between 50 and 70 degrees during this springtime period, so pack accordingly.

Key Events:

•             San Luis Obispo International Film Festival (March)

•             Tequila Festival (May)

•             Strawberry Celebration (May)

June - August

The summer months in coastal California often get a bad rep for the near constant layer of fog that blankets the city. While this may not seem like ideal beach weather, these months are the warmest – with temperatures in the 70s and 80s – and there is little chance of rain ruining your outdoor plans. There are also many fun Fourth of July celebrations in the city, including a boat parade from Avila Beach.

Key Events:

•             Roll out the Barrels (June)

•             Fourth of July Boat Parade (July)

•             California Mid-State Fair (July)

September - November

September brings temperatures in the 80s and after a summer of fog, the September sun is much appreciated by locals. Foodies will enjoy the Pismo Beach Clam Festival and the Harvest on the Coast event, both of which feature delectable food options and, of course, wine. Autumn is also a great time for families who can enjoy Halloween fun like the Pumpkins in the Park event, which offers crafts, games and contests.

Key Events:

•             Pismo Beach Classic Car Show (September)

•             Sunset's Savor the Central Coast (September)

•             California Wine Month (September)

•             Pismo Beach Clam Festival (October)

•             Pumpkins in the Park (October)

•             Harvest on the Coast (November)

December - February

Pismo Beach is alive with holiday cheer in December, and visitors can enjoy tree lighting ceremonies, festivals and parades – including a paddleboarding holiday parade. January and February are also optimal times to visit because there are typically smaller crowds than in the summers. During these winter months, the temperature will stay between the 50s and 60s, so you can still enjoy the city's many outdoor adventures without requiring a heavy coat.

Key Events:

•             Pismo Beach Pier Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (December)

•             Tamale Festival (January)
