Onsen Hot Pools#5 in Best Things To Do in Queenstown
After a long day of heart-pounding activities like skiing The Remarkables or Coronet Peak, skydiving and bungee jumping, a nice soak is usually just what the doctor ordered. And at the Onsen Hot Pools, soaking in one of the indoor and outdoor pools also includes an incredible mountain vista. Visitors find that the pools (each of which can accommodate up to four bathers) are as nice in the hot, sweltering weather as they are in the middle of winter.
Whether you're traveling with your significant other, friends or family, Onsen Hot Pools is a must for those looking to relax. Past visitors raved about the views each bathing room offers. Though daytime vistas are gorgeous, consider visiting at night to take in breathtaking views of the night sky.
Onsen Hot Pools are situated about 4 miles north of central Queenstown. Free shuttle pickups and drop-offs are available from the corner of downtown's Camp and Shotover streets. Shuttle service must be requested when booking appointments. An on-site parking lot is also available for travelers with cars.
Inside the cliffside Onsen Hot Pools, which are open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., visitors will find multiple private hot pools, plus changing facilities and restrooms. Showers are available in each hot pool room. Pool prices start at NZ$61 ($41) for one adult for an hour. Stays that last more than an hour and have two or more people incur additional charges. Tea, towels, soft drinks, swimsuit rentals and couples packages are offered as well. Check out Onsen Hot Pools' website for more information about pool packages, rates and shuttle services.

#1 Skyline Queenstown
For some of the best mountain vistas, climb aboard a Skyline Queenstown gondola. After ascending nearly 1,500 feet, you'll end up at an observation deck atop Bob's Peak, where views of central Queenstown, The Remarkables and Coronet Peak await you. You'll also find a restaurant, a bar and various mountain bike trails at the top.
However, for the most thrills, check out the attraction's luge tracks, which are accessible via a chairlift that picks up by the gondola. Previous travelers said that you'll not only enjoy fantastic views, but also a hair-raising, yet kid-friendly experience.
