June-August

The hot weather peaks in July, with average daytime temperatures in the high 80s. Still, dedicated baseball fans brave the heat to cheer on the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Hotel prices tend to be at their highest during this time of year (especially when home baseball games are scheduled), so book your room in advance. Also, pack an umbrella, since summer rain showers are common.

Key Events:

September-October

Temperatures may have finally cooled (highs sit in the high 60s to low 80s), but the St. Louis social scene is just starting to heat up. Whether you're a foodie, an audiophile or a culture hound, the Gateway to the West offers a little something for everyone. Just be sure to bring a jacket: Evening temps regularly dip into the 40s by the end of the season.

Key Events:

November-March

Winter blows fierce winds and blasts ice in St. Louis, and it does so for quite a few months. Average lows hover in the low 20s to high 30s, so plan your wardrobe accordingly. If you don't mind the chilly temps, you'll likely score a deal on a hotel. Plus, attractions are less crowded in winter, and every March, St. Louis hosts the second-largest Mardi Gras celebration outside of New Orleans.

Key Events:

April-May

A short but glorious season, spring in St. Louis sees temperatures in the 60s and 70s. During these months, the Missouri Botanical Garden's blooming flowers are a sight to see. For those who love food or art, May also offers various themed events, including popular festivals like the St. Louis Microfest and the Art Fair at Laumeier Sculpture Park.
