Nestled within Kreis 7 is Zoo Zurich, where more than 380 animal species from all over the world reside. The zoo features several areas, including an elephant park, a petting zoo and a miniature rainforest.

According to past visitors, Zoo Zurich's grounds are immaculately kept and easy to navigate. Although some previous travelers bemoaned the zoo's high entrance fees, most said it's worth a visit. The zoo's international efforts to protect endangered species is another high point for animal lovers.

Zoo Zurich's admission prices are a bit steep – 26 Swiss francs (about $28) for adults; 21 francs (approximately $22.50) for students ages 16 to 20; and 13 francs (less than $14) for children between 6 and 15. Kids ages 5 and younger get in for free, and discounted rates are available for Zurich Card holders. The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 or 6 p.m., depending on the month. On-site amenities include multiple restaurants, a gift shop and restrooms. Limited parking lots operated by the city sit nearby; rates at these lots start at a half-franc (about 50 cents) for one half-hour. Visitors without a car can take the No. 39 bus to the Im Klosterli stop, which sits about two blocks from the zoo's entrance, or the Nos. 5 or 6 tram lines to Zoo station. Check out Zoo Zurich's website for more information about animal exhibits, tickets, property features and special events.
