Great family Vacation

Great ship with great staff, needs updating and lots of cosmetic work done on it but it’s an old ship so it’s to be exspected I guess! Overall we had a great trip and can’t wait for the next one

We had a terrific time on the Sunshine. The shows were fun, Steakhouse was great! Havana bar had nice snack food. Sea day Brunch is a must. We had "Faster to the Fun", which I recommend, worked well most of the time.

Loved this ship. It’s different than any of the others as far as lay out goes. But I like the decor and it was nice and clean. The staff was amazing as always. The cruise director Mikey was by far the best CD I’ve ever had. Only issue is you have to walk thru the Smoky casino on deck 5 to get to the back of the ship which is where the Ocean Plaza stage is. Also, this ship does seem to rock a lot more then the average. It could be because we had to cruise at higher speeds to get all the way to Aruba in time. All in all I really enjoyed this ship and would cruise on it again.

Great cruise. Great fun. Great food/ entertainment. Guys, blue iguana, lido, we did your tine dining, all great! Havana bar area near Jiji and Cucina area is great for finding tables for breakfast and lunch. Omelet station is back there too. Punchliners is great. Slides were a hit. Crew friendly. Room steward Giri great. No complaints. Debarkation slow and delayed, only bad thing due to port, not ship. As far as rocky ride, nope. Only 2nd to last night. It was a storm. So we swayed a little that night. Wasn't our first rodeo and It didn't bother us at all. I slept like a baby. We loved the ship.

We are doing it again!!!

Carnival Sunshine

Dec 6th, 2018

We have been on several cruises with Carnival and a couple of other cruise lines. What Carnival does well -- service. Particularly the dining room staff and the room stewards. The food in the dining room was excellent and we ate most of our breakfasts and dinners there. Guy's Burger Joint on the Lido deck makes the BEST burgers! However, the buffet on the Lido deck was lack luster and it was difficult to find a place to sit down. What Carnival does not do as well as other cruise lines -- public spaces and bar service. We found most of the bar staff seemed overwhelmed and less than friendly and it was nearly impossible to get a deck chair by the pool unless you wanted to get up super early to stake one out. And you can forget getting into either of the pools -- one was swarmed with kids and the other was packed shoulder to shoulder with adults. The Carnival Sunshine holds around 2600 passenger compared to our cruise last year on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas which has a capacity of 5400 passengers -- yet, we never had trouble finding a deck chair on the Oasis nor did we have difficulty actually enjoying time in the water. For this reason and the disappointing Lido buffet, we will think twice before booking another cruise on Carnival.

Overall, a good cruise. It was a learning experience of things that I would do differently in the future. I can't stress enough how stressful our check in process was.

Very fun ship. Mikey was 2nd to none! The usual food. It’s cruise food so i expect what i get??????????? When revamped they narrowed it a bit too much in the lido area . Made the ship feel crowded. Service was average except for an exceptional few. Again that’s how it usually is. Had a good time. Smooth ride beautiful weather!

Best Serenity Deck ever!
