Overview
Originally launched in 2003 and most recently refurbished in 2015, MSC Lirica includes updated public areas and dining venues. The 1,984-passenger ship offers a nearly 1-to-3 crew-to-guest ratio, which some cruisers said negatively impacted customer service.
However, travelers were pleased with their accommodations, which range from Interior and Ocean View staterooms (spanning between 140 and 226 square feet) to more spacious 290-square-foot Suites fitted with private balconies. All cabins are outfitted with TVs, minibars and spacious closets.
The ship also offers a variety of dining venues, including enlarged restaurant and buffet areas, plus a sushi bar. There are five bars and lounges spread throughout the ship, including two exclusive venues: The Beverly Hills Bar and the Lord Nelson Pub. Daytime activities are a bit more limited compared to other ships in the fleet, but you'll still have access to two pools, the MSC Aurea Spa, a mini-golf course and a jogging track. Evening activities range from Broadway-style performances to casino games.
In 2019-20, Lirica sails to ports in the Mediterranean, as well as Abu Dhabi and India. Travelers can depart for their cruises out of Italy or Dubai.
