Overview

MSC Opera launched in 2004 and received a major renovation in 2015. Though it is one of the older ships in MSC's fleet, the overhaul added more staterooms (increasing capacity to 2,679 passengers) and features like a water spray park and upscale shopping boutiques. While recent cruisers appreciated the new interiors and added spaces, they also warned that the 1-to-3 crew-to-passenger ratio can lead to inconsistent service.

However, travelers took the biggest issue with the ship's food quality. Despite boasting two main restaurants and two casual venues, travelers were disappointed by the lack of a specialty venue. Past passengers were more complimentary of onboard activities and entertainment, which include live musical performance, casino games and six bars and lounges. Those with little ones in tow will enjoy the mini-golf course and the Lego playroom.

When it comes to accommodations, MSC Opera offers four room categories: Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite. Those looking to splurge can book Suite category rooms that also include balconies and bathrooms with tubs. All cabins are outfitted with minibars and interactive TVs.

In 2018-19, MSC Opera departs from ports in Italy and France for sailings in the Mediterranean.
