Overview

Launched in 2009 and refurbished in 2015, MSC Splendida is among the largest ships in MSC's fleet, carrying up to 4,363 passengers and 1,370 crew members. While most recent cruisers say the ship is well-maintained, many remarked that the ship could use additional crew members for more attentive service.

Though crowd-free spaces may be difficult to find, MSC Splendida offers unique lodging categories that are not available on all MSC ships – namely the MSC Yacht Club. The 71 suites are in an exclusive area of the ship and tout extra perks like 24-hour butler service, bathrooms with tubs and separate living areas. No matter which category you choose, all cabins include minibars and interactive TVs.

Dining options are just as varied, with 11 bars and lounges and six restaurants, including Santa Fe, a Tex-Mex specialty restaurant (not included in the overall cruise rate). Other highlights include the expansive Aqua Park, a Formula One simulator and a 4-D theater. Like other MSC ships, MSC Splendida features the Aurea Spa, a jogging track and designated kids and teen areas.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship’s Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship’s Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line.
