Engine Problems Significantly Lessened the Quality of an Otherwise Good Cruise

The quality of the cruise was lessened because of a problem with the ship's engines, which caused a change in the time arriving / departing at / from a number of the ports. The $200 given to us by the cruise line was not commensurate with the loss of excursions and port time. As a further insult, the money could only be used for ship board purchases which greatly lessened the value. While this problem was rectified at Darwin, there appears to be no reason why this repair couldn't have been accomplished in Singapore. The on-board staff apparently had no ability to address any additional compensation for the reduced quality of the cruise.

The worest cruise I have experence. Ship had mechanical issue. Late to port and leave early. No compensation from NCL.

We in line for 3 hours to check-in, there must be a better way to check-in. When we got on board, the A/C was not working. No TV were available to see if there are any issue on the ship. The hot and cold water mix in the shower were not working, jump in and out of the water spray, The shower door would not close completely. Rarely see the steward vs in the past, we see that person several times a day. We were late to port of call and leave early due to engine issue. They try to cover it up by issue statement that was not correct. No compensation.

Jewel Transpacific was Fantastic

The first thing that makes a cruise so great is the weather. On this cruise, things couldn't have been more perfect. We had sunny to mostly sunny weather in every port. The crossing of the Bearing Sea was fairly smooth. We had a couple of days that during part of the day there was rain but the seas were overall not bad. On a scale of 1-5, comparing it to my other travels, I'd have to rate this one as a 2. We had two typhoons, one of which we had to change course for. It caused us to arrive about 2 hours later than scheduled in one port, yet our seas were moderate and we still had sunny weather in our ports. The crew was very friendly and helpful. I had the chance to interact with many, at many different levels and always had very positive experiences. The ports were all very good. I really enjoyed all the places I visited. The itinerary was great. There are many descriptions of the Russian port. I found it to go very smoothly. I didn't book any type of excursion and just planned to go ashore. No problems. Once my turn came up I was able to go through the Russian immigration process on board and then tender to shore. I was able to go where I wanted and had a great time visiting Petropavlovsk. The people where friendly and I really enjoyed visiting Russia. I also found all the Japanese ports to be very enjoyable. I would definitely do this itinerary again if it comes up again.

This was an amazing experience. From the moment we embarked, through each and every port of call we had the best time! The staff were awesome, the scenery was spectacular and every day was a new adventure.

This was such a fantastic holiday and we enjoyed every minute. To get up at 5am and watch the ship manoeuvre through Endicott Arm, surrounded by sheer cliffs and watch the sunrise .......priceless!!!

Pretty good smooth sailing ship

While I liked the ship, there is a whole lot you can improve on. The heat of the food spoiled the choice. The other thing I didn't like was the having to walk passed the spa girls and having them trying to get you to buy. Please it is very off putting, if I wanted to go to the spa I would have walked in. Cruising is our favorite holiday, so will still be cruising.

Educational transpacific cruise

Ship was to leave at 5 it was past Midnight before we left. We were told because it was a long cruise with too much to load but surely NCL has had long cruises and are experienced! We could have had more time in Vancouver! We were told embarkation was carried out by BC authorities and not NCL. 3 hour wait not unacceptable!

What a GREAT Cruise....

We were suppose to leave at 5 but thanks to the workers on the dock and the UNION they are in we left at 10 pm. They even took breaks siting around. The check in was very long because they only had a small number of agents checking people in.
