Don't kid yourself – dad doesn't want another tie or tool for Father's Day. This year, why not try to be more creative? Even at the 11th hour, it's not too late to spring for a special weekend getaway. So, if you're looking for a last-minute gift idea for dad, consider these trip ideas for a Father's Day he'll never forget.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Take dad on an outdoorsy retreat in the Alaskan wilderness. Ketchikan is just a 90-minute flight from Seattle, and this Father's Day weekend, the Waterfall Resort, a secluded fishing lodge, has an all-inclusive package where families can spend time together during daily guided fishing excursions to historic fishing spots. Dad will have plenty of opportunities to catch salmon and halibut while exploring spectacular coastlines and looking out for whales, black bears and more wildlife.

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Show dad how special he is with a Mexican adventure at the Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa. Here, you and dad can enjoy tequila tastings and mixology classes, not to mention surfing and paddle boarding on Banderas Bay or checking out the sites in nearby village of Sayulita. Plus, there's beachside yoga classes in the morning, indulgent spa treatments available and traditional Mariachi music shows.

Antigua, Guatemala

For a twist on the typical Father's Day activity, adventure travel company Intrepid Travel is offering a four-day Bite-size Break Antigua escape that gives travelers the chance to explore Guatemala's world-renowned colonial treasure. You can travel just outside of town to a coffee plantation to learn how coffee is grown and produced by a member of a local farming cooperative. Even better, you can tour the area's local food market and sample regional specialties before wandering along cobbled streets or taking a break in charming cafes with views of the Pacaya volcano.

For the father who loves rum, the recently opened Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa is sure to impress, with more than 100 small-batch, single-estate rums that bring to mind the Caribbean's 18th-century sugar plantations. Dad can relax in the Rhum Room, where he can delve into a specially curated flight, featuring a selection of rums handpicked by the house "rummelier" to give guests a real taste of the Caribbean. Aside from top-notch rum, Anguilla also boasts beautiful beaches ideal for swimming and water sports, nature trails, golf and more.

Sea Island, Georgia

For the dad who enjoys the finer things in life, the perfect getaway just might be The Lodge at Sea Island. With three 18-hole championship golf courses, a sports club and serious fishing, the resort offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy quality time in the great outdoors. Plus, there's kayaking, skeet shooting and access to a private beach, along with high-end dining establishments, including Colt & Alison, an upscale steakhouse and The Oak Room, which serves up delectable Southern fare and offers picturesque vistas of Saint Simon Sound.

Mustique, St. Vincent and the Grenandines

If you want to pull out all the stops for dad, plan trip to Mustique, a 1,400-acre private island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Macaroni Beach is ideal for surfing and Lagoon, Gelliceaux and Endeavour Bay, with their calmer waters, are great options for snorkeling and paddle boarding. Stay at the Cotton House, known for its excellent gastronomy, cocktail parties and beach barbeques. And dad is bound to love The Great Room Bar, with its extensive range of cigars and extensive collection of native rums.

Bowling Green, Kentucky

If your dad is a car enthusiast, head to Kentucky. Just an hour drive north of Nashville, Tennessee, Bowling Green is home to the National Corvette Museum, with more than 70 Corvettes on display. And at Beech Bend Raceway, dad can enjoy stock car racing and more. Plus, dad can also tour the GM Corvette plant and see how the beloved Corvette is made. If he has a need for speed, there's also the NCM Motorsports Park, one of the newest driving tracks in the country that has a 3.2 mile, 24 course road.

Middleburg, Virginia

The Salamander Resort & Spa, which is conveniently less than 50 miles west of our nation's capital, is set in the heart of Virginia's horse and wine country. To spoil dad this Father's Day, take advantage of the Salamander's Zip & Sip promotion, which allows dad to enjoy free beer after soaring through the trees on the resort's Tree Top Zip Tour. Meanwhile, the Guy's Day Out package allows dads to enjoy 50 percent off an archery lesson or fishing program.

Naples, Florida

You'll find bacon, buoys and bourbon galore at the Naples Bay Resort. Delight in a hearty breakfast before hitting the beach, enjoying water sports or renting a boat that's equipped with bells and whistles such as a stereo system, a large cooler, a digital throttle and more. Plus, there are four on-site dining establishments, and even a daily signature bourbon cocktail.

Austin, Texas

You won't go wrong with taking dad on a trip to the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. On Father's Day, kids can join chefs to learn how to make breakfast tacos to serve dad. Plus, the resort is offering a Father-Son Presidential Promotion, where golfers can play at 1999's golf prices (at $100 per person) at the on-site Fazio Foothills course in honor of the time the resort hosted presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush for their game of golf with the president of Argentina.

Chester Heights, Pennsylvania

For beer-loving dads, the Hamanassett Bed & Breakfast in the Brandywine Valley, near Philadelphia, is an ideal vacation choice. Dad can enjoy a hands-on beer brewing class – and sample ales, lagers, India pale ales, stouts, porters and Belgium and German beers – before indulging in a barbecue, where a professional handles the grill. Plus, dad can embrace time outdoors with biking or trout fishing in the Brandywine Creek State Park or hit the links at a nearby golf course.

Why not take in the Twin Cities on two wheels? Set in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis offers a fitness-inspired escape for dads who want to enjoy the property's biking tours around Lake Calhoun. Book the Tour de Minneapolis package, which includes a one-hour bike ride led by the hotel's general manager and a $60 breakfast credit so dad can fuel up before the ride. What's more, Dad can also visit craft breweries, take in a ballgame at Target Field, or have a feast at Manny's Steakhouse.

Tucson, Arizona

If dad needs to relax and recharge, the Canyon Ranch in Tucson is a dream Sonoran Desert spot. He can hike along backcountry trails, play rounds of golf and get replenished at the 80,000-square-foot spa. And during National Men's Health Week, the resort's medical director will discuss the latest research, trends and strategies for men pursuing lifelong wellness from June 12-15.
