Alaska Bear Adventures

Homer, Alaska
The family-owned Alaska Bear Adventures in Homer, Alaska—located about a four-hour drive south of Anchorage—is unlike any other safari. This wildlife excursion focuses on grizzly bears. And to find them, guests fly from Homer into Katmai National Park in small Cessna airplanes. After soaring over glaciers, mountains, volcanoes, and calderas, the planes touch down and a guide leads wildlife enthusiasts on a breathtaking hike to a handful of bear-viewing sites. Depending on the season, visitors will see grizzly bears doing everything from catching clams to nursing cubs.

A 32-passenger open-sided vehicle will traverse forests, pools, and savannahs, allowing you to view hippos, rhinos, gazelles, elephants, and even 20-feet-tall termite mounds.
