Rosewood Mayakoba fully immerses guests in the Riviera Maya's beauty through its architecture and design. Not only is it flanked by the region's famed crystalline sands and lush jungle, the resort is also constructed from local materials, such as Yucatan limestone and regional wood. Visitors especially praise the private outdoor deck and heated plunge pool attached to each of the property's 129 suites. And the welcome tequila, daily restocked fruit bowl and personal butler services exemplify an above-par level of hospitality. The culinary offerings at Rosewood Mayakoba's three restaurants are another point of praise among recent guests. And, despite their high price tags, visitors say the unique treatments at Sense, A Rosewood Spa are well worth the indulgence. Once you're feeling relaxed, perfect your swing at the adjacent El Camaleon golf course or soak up your surroundings with a kayaking or snorkeling adventure. You'll find this Rosewood outpost just north of downtown Playa del Carmen in the Mayakoba resort complex.

    The Resort at Pedregal
    Cabo San Lucas
#2 in Best Hotels in Mexico
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 2000 reviewsTripAdvisor (2000)

One of the first luxury resorts to reopen after Hurricane Odile devastated Baja California in 2014, The Resort at Pedregal is set on 24 acres on the beach in Cabo San Lucas. Guests reach the resort via the only privately owned tunnel in Mexico and are greeted upon arrival with margaritas (a favorite among past travelers). It was the close attention to detail and special touches throughout their stays (quick complimentary massages and snacks like chips and guacamole delivered to the room, for example) that impressed guests the most. Speaking of accommodations, each room has a terrace with ocean views and a plunge pool, plus a minibar, a Nespresso machine, a rainforest shower and separate bath tub, and binoculars for whale watching. Travelers can also venture outside their digs to check out the spa or fitness center, or simply snag a lounge chair and soak up the sun beside one of four resort pools. And when it's time for a bite to eat, The Resort at Pedregal has several restaurants to choose from, ranging from Don Manuel's, which features a different dinner menu each night, to the casual Beach Club that serves salads, sandwiches and tacos.

Just like other Auberge properties, Esperanza provides guests with extravagant amenities like yoga classes, an oceanfront infinity pool and a sculpture garden. If you're craving a little rest and relaxation, head to the spa for a replenishing massage; though spa treatments will cost you a pretty penny, recent visitors said they're well worth the splurge. Once you're feeling relaxed, dig into some tantalizing dishes at Cocina del Mar, which offers fresh seafood that is prepared using cooking styles and traditions from across North, Central and South America. Or, if you would prefer more casual dining, sit down at one of the other on-site restaurants – La Palapa, Las Estrellas, La Terraza Americana and The Lounge Bar. Afterward, retreat to your spacious casita, suite or villa, which feature private terraces, lavish bath products, flat-screen TVs and (of course) personal concierge service. You'll find Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, flanking the Sea of Cortez.

When hunger sets in, head to SEARED, the celebrated on-site restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. While some past visitors bemoaned the exorbitant menu prices, others said the steakhouse fare is well worth the high price tags. Plus, the resort offers three other eateries to choose from that serve everything from traditional ceviches to inventive sushi dishes.

A member of the elite Rosewood hotel group, the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende has quite the reputation to uphold. Most visitors only have good things to say about the property, praising its central location in San Miguel de Allende, friendly staff members and high-end appearance. The hotel's 67 rooms reflect the city's colonial heritage and are outfitted with wood-beamed ceilings, handcrafted furnishings and local artwork. You'll also have your own terrace or balcony, soaking tub and fireplace (depending on which room you book). Previous visitors highly recommend an evening drink at the Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar, where you can enjoy fantastic city views. The Mexican cuisine at 1826 Restaurant also earns high praise; however, some caution that meals here can be pricey. Sense, A Rosewood Spa receives the same critique, though serenity-seeking guests found the massages and skin treatments to be worth the extra coin. The hotel also features a variety of activities (for an extra fee), including art workshops, wine tastings and half-day horseback riding tours. If you prefer to relax without worrying about putting a dent in your wallet, spend an afternoon lounging by one of the three hotel pools.
