American Airlines AAdvantage Membership

Membership Levels

The AAdvantage program features basic membership and elite status membership. Elite membership is divided into four classes: AAdvantage Gold, AAdvantage Platinum, AAdvantage Platinum Pro and AAdvantage Executive Platinum. An invitation-only program called ConciergeKey is also available for AAdvantage's most loyal customers. The number of Elite Qualifying Segments or Elite Qualifying Miles you accrue, in addition to the Elite Qualifying Dollars you earn, determines your membership status.

Basic Membership

Benefits include:

  • Ability to earn and use points

The American Airlines AAdvantage program allows you to earn 5 award miles for every dollar spent on American and American Eagle flights, as well as American Airlines-marketed or codeshare flights and oneworld partner flights. Plus, you'll earn EQDs, EQSs and EQMs for every mile flown, the number of which depends on the fare class purchased. Members are guaranteed to accrue a minimum of 500 EQMs (or 250 EQMs when booking basic economy fares) for flights less than 500 miles on American Eagle, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and oneworld flights. (However, the only Alaska Airlines flights that qualify for EQMs are those that have an "AA" flight number and are reserved on the American Airlines website.) As a basic member, you can use your award miles toward flights, upgrades, vacations, car rentals, hotel stays and other retail products.
