Membership Levels

Hawaiian Airlines offers three levels of membership: basic, Pualani Gold and Pualani Platinum. You may also choose to upgrade to Premier Club status by paying an annual fee or using miles.

Basic Membership

Benefits include:

  • Ability to earn and use points

Once you enroll for free on the Hawaiian Airlines website or by telephone, you will become a member of the most basic level of the HawaiianMiles program and can begin accumulating miles. You will receive 1 mile for each mile flown when you provide your membership information upon booking. If you travel on a Hawaiian Airlines flight before signing up for the program or forget to enter your membership number while booking, you can redeem miles retroactively within 120 days of the completion of your flight.

Pualani Gold

Benefits include:

  • Ability to earn and use points
  • Free checked bags
  • Priority boarding/seating
  • Expedited security
  • Lounge access

After you fly 20,000 miles or 30 times with Hawaiian Airlines in a calendar year, you will achieve Pualani Gold status. As a Pualani Gold member, you are guaranteed no blackout dates for reward travel, more available seats to choose from and discounted reward flights when booking online through the Hawaiian Airlines website. Pualani Gold members can also earn free upgrades to Preferred Seats on airlines serviced by Hawaiian Airlines, based on availability. Additionally, you'll be granted access to airport lounges (in destinations like Kona and Honolulu), priority security lines (when available) and priority baggage handling. Flight-related perks include two free checked bags and priority pre-boarding. Plus, you'll receive a 50 percent frequent flyer mile bonus if you book a ticket that's not purchased with miles. To maintain Pualani Gold status, you must requalify each year.

Pualani Platinum

Benefits include:

  • Ability to earn and use points
  • Free checked bags
  • Priority boarding/seating
  • Free cabin upgrades
  • Expedited security
  • Lounge access

Once you fly with Hawaiian Airlines 40,000 miles or 60 times in a calendar year, you will be upgraded to Pualani Platinum status. The most elite membership tier of the HawaiianMiles program, Pualani Platinum status comes with all the perks of Pualani Gold status, plus guaranteed economy-class seats on a neighbor island flight up to 72 hours before departure and an additional free checked bag. Pualani Platinum members also receive complimentary upgrades to first class on the day of departure for flights to neighboring islands and North America flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines (on a first-come, first-served basis), as well as double the frequent flyer miles when traveling on a full-priced ticket that wasn't purchased using miles. You will continue receiving Pualani Platinum benefits as long as you meet the minimum qualification requirements every year.

Premier Club Membership

Benefits include:

  • Ability to earn and use points
  • Free checked bags
  • Priority boarding/seating
  • Expedited security
  • Lounge access

Premier Club status can be purchased initially for $299 or with 40,000 miles; annual renewal thereafter costs $249 or 35,000 miles. This membership status offers some, but not all, Pualani Gold member benefits: You are guaranteed no blackout dates for mileage rewards, more available seating and discounted flight awards for tickets booked on the Hawaiian Airlines website. Additionally, you are granted two free checked bags per flight, access to select airport lounges and priority boarding, security lines and baggage handling.
