Best Hotel Rewards Programs

There isn't one hotel loyalty program that's ideal for every traveler. Some programs offer greater flexibility and prioritize earning points for free nights, while others emphasize special members-only privileges, such as free Wi-Fi access or minibar credits. To help you choose the best rewards program for you, U.S. News identified 17 of the most prominent hotel loyalty programs and evaluated them using a methodology that weighs factors like member benefits, the average number of paid nights required to earn a free stay and how easy it is to earn and use rewards. Our approach places emphasis on the ease of earning points and redeeming free nights for basic members. Before enrolling in a program, check out which ones cemented a place on our list of the Best Hotel Rewards Programs for 2017-18, and find the program that best fits your needs.

Starpoints can also be accrued by dining and shopping with Starwood partners or by making purchases with the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card from American Express. Loyalty club members can then spend their points on tickets to concerts and sporting events, and gift cards for Amazon, Starbucks and iTunes, as well as on air travel. Meanwhile, elite SPG members who are also Medallion-level members in the Delta SkyMiles program; Silver, Gold or Platinum members in the Emirates Skywards program; or China Eastern Eastern Miles members can earn frequent flyer miles on eligible hotel stays. Keep in mind, because of the Marriott Group Hotels and Starwood Hotels & Resorts merger (approved in April 2016), the Starwood Preferred Guest program may merge with the Marriot Rewards program in the near future.
